Studded leather harness fragment from the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, identified with the name “Clara” and the letter “R” for Ringling. Originally made for Clara, an African elephant who performed with the circus until her death in 1944, the piece documents a sad era when elephants were routinely trained and exhibited for entertainment.
Dimensions: 25” x 27” tall
Condition: Good with obvious areas of wear and tear due to It being worn by an elephant for many years
